PURPOSE OF POSITION:
As the Production Manager you will be leading a team with varied strengths of locomotive maintenance professionals daily covering all aspects of planning, scheduling, assignment of work within a locomotive maintenance environment, ensuring that all maintenance production performed safely and in compliance with regulatory and maintenance standards consistent with expectations of the business. The ideal candidate builds a safety focused culture, communicates efficiently, and drives accountability.
POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Support front line mechanical supervisors on the planning and execution maintenance and repair activities, hold supervisors and craft accountable to daily production targets
- Accountable for continuity of production shift over shift
- Support, communicate and deliver to key performance indicators. Drills down to get to the root cause of business issues to ensure all direct reports have an understanding of the business objectives, as well as the role they are all accountable for
- Validate job briefings, end of shift briefings, safety meetings and activities to ensure that safety rules, procedures and policies are adhered to through efficiency testing and safety tracking document
- Validate that there is the appropriate level of stock/material and holds store department accountable to protect production plans for next 72 hours
- Maintain communication and create positive working relationships with local union officials. Ensures the collective agreement is understood and handled as it is written
POSITION REQUIRMENTS:
- Must possess a minimum of a High school diploma or mechanical/electrical trade certification and or equivalent university degree
- Valid driver’s license
- 3-5 years railroad experience and leading front-line operations
- Experience in locomotive maintenance on General Electric and Electrical-Motive Diesel locomotive product types.
- Read and understand safety instructions, operating rules and regulations and other written or printed material in English
- Proficient in MS Office Outlook, Word, and Excel and knowledge of SAP systems
- Effectively communication and coach a vast array of employees, while being adaptable to change

PRE-EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS:
Medical and Drug Testing
This is a safety sensitive position and a successful pre-employment medical assessment including physical, vision, hearing, and a negative company or regulated drug test is required. Post hire qualification drug testing may also be required.

Management Conductor Program:
Becoming a qualified conductor or locomotive engineer is the single best way for a management employee to learn the business at CPKC. You may be required to obtain a certification or to maintain your current certification/qualification as a conductor or locomotive engineer.
