PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:

The Supervisor Production role presents a compelling opportunity to lead high‑impact track construction projects and contribute meaningfully to the success of rail operations. This position is accountable for overseeing the safe, efficient, and timely execution of assigned projects in full alignment with established safety standards, regulatory requirements, and operational expectations. An in-depth understanding of the collective bargaining agreement (CBA) is vital for directing workflow and resolving any issues with fairness and integrity. Ideal candidates will have a proven track record in construction or manufacturing management and a passion for building high-performing teams in a collaborative, growth-focused environment. This position requires frequent travel, covering the Southern ON subdivision. 

 

POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Maintain open and consistent communication with the Manager of Production by sharing timely updates on project advancement and relevant metrics
  • Rigorously adhere to CPKC policies and standards in all assigned tasks, fostering accountability and ensuring all activities meet regulatory requirements
  • Conduct in-depth analyses of violations related to safety, policy, and procedures; determine root causes and apply effective corrective measures to safeguard future compliance
  • Support operational excellence by designing and implementing improved workflows and process modifications, helping to boost both efficiency and overall performance
  • Advocate for a safe work environment by guiding team members and direct reports in following CPKC safety protocols, instilling high standards for safety and responsibility
  • Review and assess upcoming capital projects—verifying material availability and execution plans—to ensure smooth rollout and alignment with company objectives
  • Display strong dependability and flexibility in fast-paced, 24/7 operations, reacting promptly to urgent situations to reduce service interruptions and maintain continuous operations

 

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • High school diploma or general equivalency
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in engineering, construction, or the railroad sector; or an equivalent combination of relevant education and practical experience
  • Valid driver's license
  • Proven leadership abilities and experience managing or supervising teams
  • Strong analytical skills with expertise in Microsoft Office Suite, especially in Excel and Word
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, demonstrating the ability to clearly and professionally relay information to various audiences

PRE-EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS:

 

Medical and Drug Testing

This is a safety sensitive position and a successful pre-employment medical assessment including physical, vision, hearing, and a negative company drug test is required. Post hire qualification drug testing may also be required.

Management Conductor Program

Becoming a qualified conductor or locomotive engineer is the single best way for a management employee to learn the business at CPKC. You may be required to obtain a certification or to maintain your current certification/qualification as a conductor or locomotive engineer.
