PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:
Located in Calgary, AB and reporting to the Business Architect, the Process Analyst Intern will support business transformation initiatives by documenting, analyzing, and helping implement business processes that advance strategic objectives and operational excellence. This is an 8-month internship opportunity designed for students and recent graduates looking to gain hands-on experience working with business stakeholders and cross-functional teams to gather requirements, evaluate process improvements, and develop process documentation.
The successful candidate will help translate business requirements and strategic designs into actionable insights, process maps, and knowledge resources that support organizational change and continuous improvement, while gaining valuable exposure to process analysis, stakeholder engagement, and business transformation initiatives.
POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Assist with documenting business processes, workflows, and requirements using established process analysis and documentation standards
- Collaborate with business stakeholders and cross-functional teams to gather information, support process improvement initiatives, and contribute to business transformation activities
- Participate in meetings and workshops to help capture business needs, map processes, and document requirements
- Support the analysis and documentation of business process, policy, and system changes to help ensure clear communication between business and technical teams
- Work with process owners and project teams to assess process changes and support the development of communication, training, and adoption materials
- Contribute to a collaborative and innovative team environment while developing professional and analytical skills
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Business, Information Systems, Operations Management, or a related field
- 0 - 2 years of relevant experience in business process analysis, process documentation, business analysis, or related areas, including experience gained through internships, co-op terms, or academic projects
- Exposure to process mapping, workflow documentation, or business analysis through coursework, projects, co-op, internship, or volunteer experience is considered an asset
- Strong willingness to learn about business processes, systems, and organizational operations
- Ability to gather, organize, and document information through discussions, interviews, workshops, and research
- Ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively with business stakeholders and team members
- Strong analytical, organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills, with attention to detail
- Exposure to advanced analytics, reporting, and visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, Power Query, SQL) is considered an added advantage
- Familiarity with process improvement methodologies such as Lean, Six Sigma, or business analysis concepts is considered an asset
- Demonstrates curiosity, initiative, and a commitment to continuous learning

Management Conductor Program
Becoming a qualified conductor or locomotive engineer is the single best way for a management employee to learn the business at CPKC. You may be required to obtain a certification or to maintain your current certification/qualification as a conductor or locomotive engineer.
