PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:
As the Specialist S&C Tunnel Electrical, you will lead and manage the MacDonald, Connaught and Shaughnessy tunnels and their electrical transmission and control systems.
POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Install, maintain, test, solve, service and repair industrial electrical equipment, system supervising hardware and associated electrical controls in the tunnels, power substations and subsequent switch gear and power infrastructure hardware
- Position, maintain and install distribution and control equipment such as switches, lighting fixtures, conduit and electrical controls, relays, circuit breaker panels, switch gear and fuse enclosures
- Read and understand blueprints of electrical circuits for all construction, maintenance, tunnel, and infrastructure
- Safety procedures for all electrical isolation and maintenance task
- Handle the layout and installation of various electrical circuits using residential and commercial building standards
- Follow safety requirements for electrical installations
- Dynamically assess tunnel operations requirements and assist with coordinating and refining roles with the Tunnel Management
- Safe use of common hand and power tools
- Provide on call to ensure 24/7 coverage for the tunnels and infrastructure assets and emergencies support
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
- High school diploma or general equivalency
- Licensed electrician (Red Seal) in the province of British Columbia
- Proficient knowledge in high voltage 4160V/7.2KV/34.5KV, primary power and all types of insulation and wiring
- Must have expert and practical knowledge of 480, 600, 240/208/120 VAC single and three phase systems
- Valid class 5 drivers license and/or Class 3 with air brake endorsement
- Acquire and hold a Canadian Railway Operating Rules card, minimum level “D”
- Previous work history providing the ability to attain an FSR-A ticket (Master Electrician) is an asset
- Knowledge of all relevant industry codes including the Canadian Electrical Code

PRE-EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS:
Medical and Drug Testing
This is a safety sensitive position and a successful pre-employment medical assessment including physical, vision, hearing, and a negative company drug test is required. Post hire qualification drug testing may also be required.

Management Conductor Program
Becoming a qualified conductor or locomotive engineer is the single best way for a management employee to learn the business at CPKC. You may be required to obtain a certification or to maintain your current certification/qualification as a conductor or locomotive engineer.
