To provide On Track Safety for non-railroad construction work activities on active railway property and through construction zones. Using specific railway operating rules, instructions and techniques, this position ensures that employees and contractors clear the working zone prior to the approach of a train minimizing any delays to scheduled railway operations.



  • Be committed to going Home Safe after each shift and embracing CP’s safety culture by adhering to company policies and procedures;
  • Conduct daily job briefings in order that all contractors understand site specific instructions prior to commencing work;
  • Review the work site, consult with Supervisor and or contractors to understand work being conducted, and any potential hazards to train operations;
  • Set up, reposition and dismantle railway specific signals (flags) at designated locations;
  • Perform related administrative duties and proper documentation.



  • High school diploma or equivalent;
  • A valid in state drivers’ license, reliable transportation to and from work;
  • Ability to work in a safety sensitive environment working with groups within railroad right of way;
  • Prior outdoor work experience, ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions;
  • Typical Schedule: 40-Hours/Week Minimum, Monday – Sunday (schedules could include 8 hours/day (5 days/week), 10 hours/day (4 days/week), or 7 days on/7 days off (11.42 Hours/day) with available OT;
  • Work will be within a 2-hour radius of designated HQ location and company transportation provided from Saratoga Springs or designated start of work location between Saratoga Springs and Rouses Point.

Medical Requirements:
CP is committed to the safety and health of its employees and the general public.  This position is a safety sensitive position; all new hires will be required to complete a pre-employment medical that includes a physical, vision, hearing, alcohol and drug audit assessments. Qualification drug test(s) are also required.
