PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:

The Senior Manager Employee Services & Expense is accountable for the operations and ongoing continuous improvement of employee transactional work and expense related administrative activities. This position provides leadership and governance on all events impacting employee administration, including managing relationships with internal stakeholders such as HR, IT, Finance, and HRIS.  With a focus on technological innovation, best business practices, and ensuring legislative compliance, the Senior Manager Employee Services & Expense is responsible to contribute to and implement the strategies to provide outstanding service to all employees.

 

POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Accountable for accurate and timely processing of employee related data for all CPKC, including both management and union, and Canada, US and Mexico
  • Ensure that all transactions and administration is in strict accordance with various plan rules, SOX, Provincial, Federal and State regulations and CPKC’s financial controls polices (Financial Accounting, Treasury). In addition, to respond to internal and external audits in these areas
  • Lead, coach, and develop the Employee Services and Expense team to deliver optimal results that align with business direction. Engage with members of the team about their individual performance, career aspirations, and developmental needs
  • Collaborate with leaders within business units including HR, IT, Audit, and Finance.  Set strategic and operational goals, plan and prioritize work, and redesign, streamline, and integrate work to ensure seamless service delivery to clients
  • Drive the transformation of employee inquiries and transactional services with a focus on quality, customer service, innovation, automation, continuous improvement, and manager and employee self-service
  • Accountable for quality of delivery of services, including SLAs and KPIs
  • Establish key performance and service level agreements with internal clients that will steer operational efficiency, effective service delivery and positive constructive relationships

 

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma
  • 5 years experience leading HR services teams is preferred, or
  • 5 years leading other CPKC teams with a high degree of success
  • Payroll certification preferred
  • Payroll fundamentals knowledge
  • Fundamental financial accounting and analysis
  • Service center management experience
  • Capability in the development and implementation of strategic plans, and demonstrated capability to produce deliverables
  • Demonstrated ability to develop long-term relationships with clients and an in-depth knowledge of their business requirements to provide appropriate services
  • Managerial leadership skills including Team management skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively cross functionally
  • Influencing and communications skills for all levels

Management Conductor Program:
