PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:
The primary responsibility of the Senior Project Manager is planning, organizing, and supervising the completion of one or multiple projects using their skills, knowledge, and experience. They help to establish the overall project and its deliverables by acting as the customer’s single point of contact for the project, controlling the planning and executing project activities and resources to ensure established scope, budget, time, and quality goals are met.
POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Translate business requirements into Information Services implementation quotes for networks, telephony, Wi‑Fi, and print solutions
- Partner with business and technical leaders to define project scope, schedule, budget, investment rationale, and realized benefits
- Lead end‑to‑end IS design and implementation for construction and renovation projects across railway facilities and offices
- Apply advanced project management practices across scope, schedule, cost, quality, risk, procurement, integration, and communications
- Secure and manage internal and external delivery resources, set expectations, and evaluate performance
- Own project requirements and stakeholder management across the lifecycle in collaboration with Product Owners, Solution Architects, and Technical Leads
- Manage financials, forecasts, and controls using SAP, PPM, and Excel in compliance with PMO, SOX, and governance standards
- Drive cross‑functional delivery, escalate risks and issues, support executive reporting, and ensure Organizational Change Management adoption
- Provide strong project leadership by setting clear goals, resolving conflicts, adapting to change, and demonstrating accountability and ownership
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
- University degree in Commerce/Business Administration, Engineering, Computer Science, or related field, or equivalent experience. Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or equivalent is an asset
- Minimum of 7 years of experience leading large, multi‑stakeholder information systems projects
- 7 years of experience using project management planning tools (MS Project preferred) and MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- 5+ years of experience understanding business and technical strategies and communicating these needs to governing bodies
- Proven experience working in a team‑oriented environment with collaborative relationships
- Strong decision‑making and problem‑solving at root‑cause and complexity levels
- Experience leading Statement of Work (SOW) development, participating in contract negotiations, and managing vendors and material delivery
- Experience supporting Information Services integration for new facility construction or major facility renovations, with accountability for IS readiness
- Knowledge of network connectivity delivery for facilities, including WAN, LAN, Wi‑Fi, and voice services, in coordination with Facilities and construction teams

Management Conductor Program
Becoming a qualified conductor or locomotive engineer is the single best way for a management employee to learn the business at CPKC. You may be required to obtain a certification or to maintain your current certification/qualification as a conductor or locomotive engineer.
