Bridge Maintenance Supervisor

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:

The bridge maintenance supervisor plays a key role in protecting the safety and reliability of railroad infrastructure by leading inspections of bridges and related structures across the network. They provide expert feedback based on field conditions guide and qualify maintenance teams and collaborate with engineering staff to develop action plans that address structural concerns and ensure compliance with safety standards.

 

POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Complete bridge inspections in accordance with Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) bridge safety standards and CPKC bridge safety management plan policy
  • Audit bridge maintenance and renewal work for compliance with CPKC structures red book
  • Make recommendations to territory manager bridge maintenance regarding inspection and maintenance of bridges
  • Complete inspections of moveable bridges overhead highway structures culverts retaining walls and turntables
  • Responsible for scheduling and oversight of projects on territory
  • Operation of bridge inspection vehicle
  • Establish and maintain relationships with engineering counterparts on assigned geographic territory
  • Request and obtain necessary track authorities to conduct on track bridge inspections

 

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • High school diploma or general equivalency
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Qualified as a bridge inspector or ability to become qualified under CPKC bridge management program
  • Ability to inspect bridges at heights and wear fall protection
  • Computer skills and experience with spreadsheets and word processing
  • Minimum three years' experience in railroad bridge inspection maintenance or construction preferred

PRE-EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS:

Medical and Drug Testing

This is a safety sensitive position and a successful pre-employment medical assessment including physical, vision, hearing, and a negative company or regulated drug test is required. Post hire qualification drug testing may also be required.

Management Conductor Program

Becoming a qualified conductor or locomotive engineer is the single best way for a management employee to learn the business at CPKC. You may be required to obtain a certification or to maintain your current certification/qualification as a conductor or locomotive engineer.
