PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:
The Instructor Training - Engineering delivers high-impact technical training to support Operations’ business strategies and performance targets. You will ensure courses are relevant and effective, drive continuous improvement, and help build a culture of safety and excellence.
POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Schedule and deliver technical training sessions for assigned client groups in alignment with business goals
- Manage course logistics, administer examinations, and ensure accurate record-keeping in the LMS
- Identify and implement revisions based on policy, procedure, or technology changes
- Contribute to the creation and refinement of training plans and curriculum
- Address emerging training needs for client groups and provide subject matter expertise
- Support field managers and onboard new hires for seamless integration
- Maintain confidentiality of all training activities and results
- Assess on-the-job performance of trainees to ensure learning objectives are met
- Travel up to 40% to remote terminals to deliver training as required
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
- High school diploma required with a preference for post-secondary education
- 3 years of railroad field experience with excellent safety record with a preference for prior training or facilitation experience
- Deep knowledge of technical subjects (On Track Safety (OTS)/ General Code of Operating Rules (GCOR), Track Inspection) with a preference for an understanding of adult education principles, basic instructional design and proficiency with LMS systems and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel up to 40%

PRE-EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS:
Medical and Drug Testing
This is a safety sensitive position and a successful pre-employment medical assessment including physical, vision, hearing, and a negative company or regulated drug test is required. Post hire qualification drug testing may also be required.

Management Conductor Program
Becoming a qualified conductor or locomotive engineer is the single best way for a management employee to learn the business at CPKC. You may be required to obtain a certification or to maintain your current certification/qualification as a conductor or locomotive engineer.
