PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:
The Manager of Signals and Communications (S&C) - Communications Infrastructure oversees multiple, complex IT projects, coordinating all aspects from initiation to delivery. The role manages initiatives involving network, server, or software implementation; directs IT staff and stakeholders; defines requirements, scope, and budgets; and develops detailed plans with risk assessments and key performance indicators. Responsibilities include resource allocation, progress tracking, risk management, testing, documentation, and ensuring on-time, on-budget delivery. The manager communicates project updates across all levels, drives adoption and change, and leads teams by leveraging project value and influence.
POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Spearhead safety programs and promoted ongoing enhancement of workplace safety standards
- Coach and mentor team members to maximize efficiency, evaluate performance, and provide professional development opportunities
- Oversee day-to-day operations at the Radio Shop, manage workflows, prioritize work activities, and sustain operational excellence
- Perform project planning, tracking and oversight to ensure projects are completed on schedule and within budget
- Facilitate project planning, monitoring, and control to ensure timely completion within budget limitations
- Direct all stages of the project management lifecycle, from securing funding to project execution and closure
- Communicate regular status updates and serve as the primary liaison for project stakeholders
- Proactively detect potential schedule and budget issues, partnering with relevant departments or clients to address and mitigate risks
- Deliver necessary financial data for forecasting, and oversee the management of costs, schedules, and deliverable quality
- Collaborate with resource managers to develop accurate resource demand forecasts
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
- High school diploma or equivalency; bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college, preferably in a job-related major field of study is preferred
- Valid driver’s license
- Minimum of five (5) years of S&C work experience
- 3 years’ experience in Information Technology related Project Management role is a plus
- Project Management Institute or Project Management Professional certification
- IT project management experience coupled with functional work experience with software development or infrastructure development life cycle
- Leveraged expertise in communication, negotiation, problem solving, influence, risk mitigation, and leadership to effectively coordinate multiple projects
- Interpersonal skills, in both verbal and written interactions
- Ability to support on-call operations (24x7 availability)

PRE-EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS:
Medical and Drug Testing
This is a safety sensitive position and a successful pre-employment medical assessment including physical, vision, hearing, and a negative company or regulated drug test is required. Post hire qualification drug testing may also be required.

Management Conductor Program
Becoming a qualified conductor or locomotive engineer is the single best way for a management employee to learn the business at CPKC. You may be required to obtain a certification or to maintain your current certification/qualification as a conductor or locomotive engineer.
