PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:

The position provides oversight and management of inventory control for CPKC materials for Engineering, Signals & Communications, Mechanical Car and Locomotive departments across a defined territory. You will also assist in the management of a regional material distribution center operation outlined by the manager.

 

POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Coordinate and support CPKC’s inventory control objectives, ensuring inventoried materials are properly transacted (right material at the right place and at the right time) and are counted per our Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX) controls
  • Creating a safe workplace by executing a Safety Management system
  • Execute inventory control processes for a defined region or material scope, including executing counts and posting counts for all material types
  • Coordinate inventory count plans to ensure inventory controls are met  
  • Business point of contact for material concerns for the portfolio defined for this role
  • Capital Inventory Support S&C, Engineering, Mechanical Car, Loco and Procurement to execute planning, transferring and delivery of material
  • Optimize CPKC Inventory materials while providing oversight on material management best practices
  • Assist in Management of Southern District Distribution Center

 

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Post-Secondary Education, preferably a university degree in business, finance, engineering or a related field
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience managing inventory, warehousing, and distribution of materials
  • Valid driver's license
  • Experience working in a warehouse
  • Strong excel skills and analytical capabilities
  • Systems’ aptitude and experience with SAP is preferred but training will also be provided

Management Conductor Program

Becoming a qualified conductor or locomotive engineer is the single best way for a management employee to learn the business at CPKC. You may be required to obtain a certification or to maintain your current certification/qualification as a conductor or locomotive engineer.
