PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:

The Warehouse Material Handler is responsible for managing inventory processes, including receiving, inspecting, tracking, and stocking materials, as well as performing returns and maintaining records in SAP. This role involves hands-on physical tasks, teamwork, and adherence to safety protocols.

 

POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Receive shipments, open packages, inspect materials, stock, and prepare materials to be returned
  • Operate forklift on a regular basis
  • Process inventory consumption and transfers from plant to plant in SAP
  • Hands on work involving holding, grasping, turning, and pulling
  • Work in a team environment and possess verbal and written communication skills
  • Work in conditions that include loud noise and fumes, work on and around heavy and moving machinery, bend, lift, work, walk, stand, and sit in confined spaces for extended periods, and use hand and power tools
  • Follow safety policies and procedures and wear the required personal protective equipment for the job in a safe manner
  • Learn railroad-related materials with related identification skills
  • Ability to work a variety of shifts based on seniority 11:00pm-7:00am (rest days Sunday & Monday), 3:00pm–11:00pm (rest days Sunday & Monday), and 3:00pm-11:00pm (rest days Wednesday & Thursday)

 

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • High school diploma or general equivalency
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Preference will be given to candidates with warehousing or shipping and receiving experience, but training will also be provided
  • Ability to lift up to 70lbs on a regular basis
  • Experience using Microsoft Office applications including Excel and Word, Outlook, Teams
