PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:
CPKC is looking for a certified and experienced Gasfitter and Plumber to become part of our Engineering team. This exciting role involves overseeing the maintenance and repair of plumbing and gas systems, as well as appliances, across a wide range of company facilities and equipment. Your specialized skills will be vital in ensuring the reliability and efficiency of our infrastructure, contributing directly to CPKC's dedication to excellence in rail transportation and infrastructure.
POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Install, repair, and maintain new and existing piping systems, including high-pressure systems utilized in power plants, steam heating, and industrial applications
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to accurately plan, design, and execute the installation of complex pipe systems
- Cut, thread, and bend pipes to precise specifications, ensuring optimal system functionality and adherence to project requirements
- Assemble and join pipes using advanced techniques such as welding, brazing, soldering, and mechanical fittings to achieve high-quality and durable results
- Perform HVAC system replacement and repair, ensuring effective heating, ventilation, and air conditioning for commercial and industrial purposes
- Inspect, troubleshoot, and maintain storm drainage systems to prevent flooding, ensure durability, and optimize overall system performance
- Comply with safety protocols, operational guidelines and Transport Canada regulations within the railroad sector
- Adhere to safety guidelines in a high-risk, team-oriented work environment, prioritizing vigilance when working around heavy and moving equipment
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- High school diploma or general equivalency
- Valid driver’s license
- Possess Gas license and qualifications to maintain switch-heaters to work 500,000 BTU systems
- Demonstrate strong proficiency in using hand-powered tools; experience with heavy machinery operation is considered an asset
- Acquire and maintain a Canadian Rail Operating Rules (CROR) certification at a minimum of Level "D"

Medical and Drug Testing
This is a safety sensitive position and a successful pre-employment medical assessment including physical, vision, hearing, and a negative company drug test is required. Post hire qualification drug testing may also be required.
