PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:
As a Supervisor, you will support the management team by providing effective leadership, overseeing planning and scheduling, and assigning manpower to specific tasks within the shop environment. You will ensure all production and service activities are completed safely, efficiently, and in full compliance with company policies, industry standards, and applicable government regulations.
POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Lead job briefings, shift handovers, and safety meetings; enforce safety rules through training, testing, and tracking
- Investigate, document, and correct safety incidents and hazards in collaboration with Maintenance Manager and Health & Safety Committee
- Drive and communicate KPIs; perform root cause analysis to align teams with business objectives
- Provide clear, timely performance feedback and apply balanced corrective actions when required
- Coordinate with management to meet production and customer requirements
- Manage inventory levels and parts ordering within limits using SAP; support budget control initiatives
- Maintain positive labour relations and ensure collective agreement compliance
- Support continuous improvement, Lean initiatives, and operational efficiency
- Lead and support mechanical and electrical response during incidents per the Emergency Response Plan
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
- High school diploma or equivalent; Electrical, Millwright, Industrial Electrician trade certification with red seal preferred
- Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting (hydraulic, pneumatic, and automation systems)
- Knowledge of PLCs, motors, drives, conveyors, and industrial automation
- Maintenance cost control, budget management, and spare parts inventory planning
- Ability to balance reactive maintenance with long-term reliability initiatives
- Effective collaboration with Production, Engineering, and Quality teams
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency in MS Office; SAP knowledge an asset
- Knowledge of collective agreements/non-union policies; adaptable to diverse teams and equipment

PRE-EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS:
Medical and Drug Testing
This is a safety sensitive position and a successful pre-employment medical assessment including physical, vision, hearing, and a negative company drug test is required. Post hire qualification drug testing may also be required.

Management Conductor Program
Becoming a qualified conductor or locomotive engineer is the single best way for a management employee to learn the business at CPKC. You may be required to obtain a certification or to maintain your current certification/qualification as a conductor or locomotive engineer.
