Bridge Inspector/Bridge Engineer - Toronto

*Please note that this position can be based out of Montreal QC, Sherbrooke QC, Smith Falls ON, or Belleville, ON depending on successful candidate. 



  • Complete Annual Scheduled Railroad Bridge Inspections and provide comments based on observed field conditions; 
  • Complete Periodic Railroad Bridge Inspections and Emergency Bridge Inspections; 
  • Will provide training, qualification, and oversight for field maintenance employees; and 
  • Facilitate action plans based on Detailed Inspection results with the Railroad Bridge Engineer. 




  • Complete Bridge Inspections in accordance with TC Bridge Safety recommendations/FRA Bridge Safety standards and CP Bridge Safety Management Plan Policy; 
  • Audit bridge maintenance/renewal work for compliance with CP Structures Red Book; 
  • Make recommendations to territory Manager Bridge Maintenance in regards the inspection and maintenance of bridges; 
  • Complete inspections of moveable bridges, overhead highway structures, culverts, retaining walls, and turntables; 
  • Directing assignment, use, and operation of Bridge Inspection Vehicle; 
  • Establish/maintain relationships with their Engineering counterparts on their geographic territory; 
  • Required to request and obtain all necessary track authorities to conduct on-track bridge inspections. 




  • High School Diploma or GED Equivalent required; 
  • Bachelors’ degree in Civil or Mechanical Engineering is an asset; 
  • Professional Engineer designation (P.Eng) is preferred; 
  • Qualification as a bridge inspector or ability to become qualified as a Bridge Inspector in accordance with CP Bridge Management Program; 
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in railroad bridge inspection, maintenance or construction (preferred); 
  • Ability to inspect bridges at heights and wear fall protection; 
  • Current On Track Safety (OTS) and General Code Operating Rules (GCOR) qualified (preferred); 
  • Computer skills and experience with spreadsheets and word processing required; 
  • Must have Canadian passport with ability to travel cross border to U.S.; 
  • Must be Bilingual (English & French); 
  • Must have valid driver’s license; 
  • Valid CDL/Commercial license (preferred).
