As a leader on the Innovation Team, you will be responsible to enable effective program delivery to achieve CP’s innovation objectives.  The Manager, Innovation Service will contribute to, and execute on, our innovation vision and strategy.   You will also develop and execute Innovation Campaigns and our Idea Pipeline that will inspire our best thinking and foster a culture of empowerment and inclusivity by enabling diverse ideas from all of our CP employees to drive innovation opportunities for growth, prosperity, and sustainability at CP.



  • Contribute to, and execute on, our innovation vision and strategy. 
  • Develop and execute monthly innovation campaigns to inspire and generate diverse innovative ideas across all of CP.
  • Review, screen, and evaluate innovation ideas submitted through our “Innovation Station” community site.
  • Work with the innovator(s) in the development of compelling innovation proposals to support the POC selection process.
  • Manage the end-to-end Idea Management Pipeline.
  • Manage our “Innovation Station” community site, refreshing content and engagement.
  • Development and generation of reporting and dashboards to measure innovation success.
  • Plan and facilitate meetings, workshops, and interviews.
  • Leverage collaboration and design thinking to help solve complex business challenges.
  • Work collaboratively with senior leaders and delivery teams to expand and build new innovation services
  • Authority to develop and execute Innovation Campaigns.
  • Authority to manage the end-to-end idea pipeline including KPIs to measure innovation success.
  • Authority to refresh and maintain content on the Innovation Station Community site.
  • Acts as an advocate for innovation across CP in internal and external forums.
  • Ensure innovation opportunities are built into the digital transformation roadmap.
  • Work with CP Leaders to develop and execute Innovation Campaigns to help solve CP’s signature issues across our enterprise.
  • Facilitate ideation and/or design thinking sessions to support innovation campaigns and idea challenges.
  • Manage the end-to-end idea pipeline from idea submission, screening & evaluation, Innovation Stage, and through to POC as required.
  • Plan and Coordinate “Innovation Stage’ events as required to facilitate and allow the Innovation Ideas to be “pitched” to the Innovation Steering Committee for POC selection.
  • Audit and reinforce proper utilization of innovation processes, procedures, and systems.
  • Work to streamline delivery process around Proof of Concepts, pilots, and innovation workshops to ensure agility and rapid learning.
  • Share and keep current - innovation news, success stories, campaigns, events, and resources through our Innovation Station Community Site



  • University degree or equivalent work experience.
  • Strong experience in innovation and research.
  • Experience in developing and managing innovation campaigns.
  • Experience in running Proof of Concepts, Pilots, and Innovation Workshops.
  • Experience in facilitating ideation and design thinking sessions.
  • Experience in leading initiatives that span up to one year and may require ability to manage resources across and outside the company to meet timelines.

Management Conductor Program:

Becoming a qualified conductor or locomotive engineer is the single best way for a management employee to learn the business at CP. You may be required to obtain a certification or to maintain your current certification/qualification as a conductor or locomotive engineer.
