PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:
As the Supervisor, Maintenance – Intermodal Operations, you will lead, plan, and coordinate all maintenance and repair activities for intermodal equipment across our facilities. You will ensure our lift equipment, hostlers, chassis, containers, and related assets operate safely, efficiently, and in compliance with regulatory and (OEM) Original Equipment Manufacturer standards. This role is integral to maintaining operational reliability, minimizing downtime, and supporting safe, sustainable operations.
POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Conduct weekly safety audits using E‑test to meet required quotas
- Ensure all maintenance and repairs comply with manufacturer specifications, AAR rules, Canadian federal/provincial laws, and the U.S. Federal Highway Act
- Monitor PPS pre‑tripping activities and escalate as needed to ensure completion requirements are met
- Ensure adherence to company environmental policies and proper disposal of waste in accordance with corporate, federal, and provincial regulations
- Verify that all contractors meet required qualifications, licenses, and safety guidelines
- Schedule and oversee maintenance for lift equipment and hostlers
- Plan and monitor commercial vehicle inspections (CVI) for the intermodal chassis fleet
- Manage maintenance, repair, and retirement plans for the container fleet
- Ensure preventive maintenance sheets are completed and equipment is maintained according to OEM standards
- Ensure contractor work meets company safety and performance expectations
- Process and audit maintenance-related invoices
- Work with Asset Management and Supply Services on asset strategies and proposals
- Investigate damage claims involving chassis, generator sets, and containers to improve procedures and reduce equipment incidents
- Ensure third‑party damage claims are addressed in a timely and accurate manner
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
- High School Graduation or General Equivalency
- Minimum 2 years of management or supervisory experience in equipment maintenance
- Minimum 2 years mechanical background required
- Experience in intermodal operations or trucking logistics considered an asset
- Valid driver’s license
- Strong organizational and planning abilities with a focus on operational excellence
- Proficiency in: Outlook, Word, Excel, MS Access, SAP, Oasis, TMS, and PowerPoint
- Familiarity with Commercial Vehicle Inspection (CVI) regulations
- Knowledge of standard heavy‑equipment maintenance procedures

Management Conductor Program
Becoming a qualified conductor or locomotive engineer is the single best way for a management employee to learn the business at CPKC. You may be required to obtain a certification or to maintain your current certification/qualification as a conductor or locomotive engineer.
