PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:
As the Supervisor Operations you will plan, coordinate direct and control all outside operations within the Intermodal terminal ensuring containers are received, loaded and/or unloaded conforming to the policies, guidelines and established plans and priorities while meeting timely performance and minimizing cost.
POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Ensure the application of CPKC safety practices, policies and procedures by unionized and/or contractor employees including conducting efficiency tests
- Communicate and interact regularly with cross-functional teams to maintain the service commitments of Intermodal traffic
- Coordinate all Lift, Hostler, Trains and Engines (T&E) and Mechanical movements within the yard to deliver to key performance indicators
- Ensure container availability/placement in agreement with Intermodal Services (IMS) Standards
- Prioritize outbound loading for Domestic and International traffic in compliance with the Association of American Railroads (AAR) securement processes
- Ensure Perishable Protected Service (PPS) containers are inspected at prescribed intervals and service providers engaged for repairs and serving
- Ensure that truck dwell, asset utilization, and performance indicators are achieved, including handling inventory for containers and railcars in OASIS/TYES
- Support and take part in ongoing improvement efforts sought at boosting operational efficiency
- Work directly with employees and/or contractors to provide mentorship and support to bring about the vision of an empowered and engaged workforce
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
- High School diploma or general equivalency
- Valid driver’s license
- 1+ years' railroad experience considered an asset
- Ability to drill down, understand root cause and resolve complex issues
- High proficiency in OASIS, TMS, MS Office Outlook, Word, and basic Excel
- Excellent focus, attention to detail and ability to multitask
- Read and understand safety instructions, operating rules and regulations, collective agreements and other written or printed material in English
- Available to work all types of shifts, including nights, weekends and holidays

PRE-EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS:
Medical and Drug Testing
This is a safety critical position and a successful pre-employment medical assessment including physical, vision, hearing, and a negative company drug test is required. Post hire qualification drug testing may also be required.

Management Conductor Program
Becoming a qualified conductor or locomotive engineer is the single best way for a management employee to learn the business at CPKC. You may be required to obtain a certification or to maintain your current certification/qualification as a conductor or locomotive engineer.
