PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:
Are you prepared to take the lead, champion excellence, and drive positive changes within our organization? As a Superior Tie & Timber Equipment Operator, you will efficiently manage and operate essential machinery, such as forklifts and knuckle booms, to support railway systems and plant operations. Your expertise is vital in handling track materials, bridges, and key components, ensuring safe, accurate, and timely project delivery. Working under moderate supervision, you’ll consistently uphold the highest standards of safety, efficiency, and quality. Your commitment to problem-solving and exceptional service will drive excellence and inspire positive change within our organization.
POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Assist with the production and management of essential track materials, vital for railway maintenance and operations
- Safely load, unload, and transport material within the plant, ensuring high-quality handling of forklifts and zero damage
- Execute tasks such as receiving, transferring materials to the separator, operating knuckle booms, transitioning materials from the stacker to the drying yard, relocating tram lines, and loading rail cars
- Conduct preventive maintenance on material handling equipment and promptly inform the maintenance team of any identified issues
- Perform visual inspection and report on damage and defects of intermodal equipment
- Maintain accurate inventory by reporting warehouse activity to the Plant Manager, ensuring proper material accounting in SAP
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
- High school diploma or general equivalency
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Valid driver’s license
- Minimum 1 year of relevant experience, or proficient in one or more fields of railroad operations
- Ability to follow advanced written instruction and/or training in skills for operating equipment
- Demonstrate a strong safety mindset in a safety-sensitive role, working amidst heavy equipment and continuous traffic flow

PRE-EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS:
Medical and Drug Testing
This is a safety sensitive position and a successful pre-employment medical assessment including physical, vision, hearing, and a negative company or regulated drug test is required. Post hire qualification drug testing may also be required.

Management Conductor Program
Becoming a qualified conductor or locomotive engineer is the single best way for a management employee to learn the business at CPKC. You may be required to obtain a certification or to maintain your current certification/qualification as a conductor or locomotive engineer.
