PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:

The Inventory Control Specialist at CPKC will enhance efficiencies in the NSC Carload & Intermodal Operations. This role focuses on analyzing metrics to elevate productivity and reduce costs, alongside solving systemic operational challenges. 

 

POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Formulate and manage KPIs and scorecards for performance metrics.
  • Utilize performance indicators to prevent future issues.
  • Offer technical guidance to NSC Carload & Intermodal teams.
  • Act as a primary point of contact for operational issues.
  • Innovate and standardize processes to meet department goals.
  • Research and apply best practices for operational excellence.
  • Analyze requirements and test new technology solutions.
  • Advocate for business process improvements.
  • Provide support across various NSC operations roles as needed.

 

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • University degree or equivalent experience in transportation preferred.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Capable of handling a fast-paced environment and multiple tasks.
  • Availability for a flexible work schedule, including potential 24/7 coverage.

Management Conductor Program:

Becoming a qualified conductor or locomotive engineer is the single best way for a management employee to learn the business at CPKC. You may be required to obtain a certification or to maintain your current certification/qualification as a conductor or locomotive engineer.
