PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:

The Analyst Financial Support will ensure protection of CPKC financial integrity and accuracy, including reporting on financial trends, performing budgeting, forecasting and month-end activities, driving control compliance, all while leading improvements through process and automation change.

 

POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Provides trend and variance analysis of payables and receivables
  • Monitor, analyze parse data files for monthly reporting
  • Create and maintain files utilized for quarterly and annual forecasting and budgeting
  • Performs audits to ensure the accuracy of financials
  • Execute month-end close, including preparation, analysis, and reporting of actuals
  • Financial accountabilities including tracking against actuals, variance analysis, journal entries, match-and-clear, and Blackline preparation
  • Provide detailed and accurate reporting, with value-added analysis, to Senior Leadership
  • Execute management and SOX controls, including performing reviews, generating supporting documentation, and drawing conclusions
  • Lead process improvement and automation
  • Lead process documentation creation and maintenance
  • Assists the Manager as required
  • Strict adherence to SOX and Internal Controls
  • Protect CPKC's financial integrity and accuracy

 

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Post-secondary in finance or business-related discipline
  • Minimum of 2 years of equivalent or relevant experience would be considered an asset
  • Strong excel knowledge
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and reporting skills
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to influence others and work with a strong sense of urgency

Management Conductor Program:

Becoming a qualified conductor or locomotive engineer is the single best way for a management employee to learn the business at CPKC. You may be required to obtain a certification or to maintain your current certification/qualification as a conductor or locomotive engineer.
