PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:

This position is responsible for process improvements to maximize effectiveness and accuracy; and entry of client data into revenue systems. This position through several controls and adherence to policies; audits the accuracy of billing information entered into the system and monitors the operation of the rating & publishing systems. It resolves and develops solutions to billing issues and works with the systems design team to implement new features. Receives a moderate level of guidance and direction. Solves a range of moderately complex problems. Leads projects of limited scope and portions of larger projects. Provides informal guidance to team members with less experience. Contributes to department objectives and outcomes as guided.

 

This position is based in Kansas City, Missouri or Winnipeg, Manitoba.  

 

POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • In charge of exception worklist triage and resolution of rating errors daily within the rating engines for any of the commodity/business units in the US, Mexico or Canada systems
  • Publish signed contract rates within the CPKC rating engines (US/MX/CAN systems) while ensuring adherence to Delegation of Monetary Authority policy, Sarbanes-Oxley Act, Management Controls, and other policies
  • Performs correction of rating errors and change requests to resolve disputes and claims reported by the Revenue Accounting / Collections/Interline Settlement teams for any commodities moved after approval; and/or directs other teams to make appropriate changes
  • Reports revenue adjustments for any commodity/business units when thresholds are met and will investigate through root cause analysis within the involved areas to prevent future notifications
  • In charge of reporting and following up about commercial rates with Sales & Marketing when agreements need to be published commodity/business units
  • Responsible for monthly Fuel Surcharge Factors updates for US, Mexico and Canada
  • Provide coverage for other commodity/business units within CPKC as required and support different projects and short-term initiatives

 

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college, preferably in a job-related major field of study
  • Minimum two (2) years of relevant professional experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Analytical, detail-oriented, problem solver
  • Proficient in MS Office suite (mainly Excel) and SAP
  • Minimum two (2) years Railroad transportation experience
  • Bilingual in Spanish, preferred
