Coordinator Border Operations

Working in a 24 x 7 environment, the Coordinator Border Operations (BOC) oversees tactical border reporting activities to ensure regulatory compliance and operational efficiency for the movement of CPKC’s cross-border trains and shipments. The BOC directly interacts with US and Canadian Border agencies and internal CPKC partners to provide seamless cross-border service. In addition to other activities, the BOC provides leadership and guidance to internal staff responsible for rail and shipment reporting activities and captures and reports daily border metrics.   • Work directly with US and Canadian border regulators, brokers, and shippers to ensure the seamless movement of cross-border traffic
  • Provide active guidance to CPKC Border staff to ensure error-free and tactical cross-border operations
  • Investigate, manage, and resolve border exceptions
  • Act as a point of contact and escalation for internal stakeholders involved in cross-border traffic
  • Ensure process accuracy and supplemental tariff application
  • Maintain, manage, and issue daily border metric reports
  • Identify continuous improvement opportunities through solution development and implementation



  • University degree and/or equivalent experience in a transportation environment
  • 2 years of relevant railway, regulatory, or cross-border transportation experience
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple initiatives with tight deadlines
  • Ability to innovate, solve problems, and manage conflict
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish; an asset
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite

Management Conductor Program:

Becoming a qualified conductor or locomotive engineer is the single best way for a management employee to learn the business at CPKC. You may be required to obtain a certification or to maintain your current certification/qualification as a conductor or locomotive engineer.
