PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:

Working in a 24 x 7 environment the Coordinator, Border Operations (BOC) oversees tactical border reporting activities working to ensure regulatory compliance and operational efficiency for the movement of CPKC’s cross border trains and shipments.

The BOC interacts directly with North American Border agencies as well as internal CPKC partners with the goal of providing seamless cross border service. The BOC leads and mentors staff for train and shipment reporting, capturing and reporting daily border metrics.

POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Work directly with North American border regulators, brokers, and shippers to ensure the seamless movement of cross border traffic
  • Provide active mentorship of CPKC Border staff in support of error free tactical cross border operations
  • Investigate, manage and resolve border exceptions
  • Serve as a main contact person and manage meaningful issues for internal collaborators engaged in cross border traffic
  • Ensure process accuracy and supplemental tariff application
  • Maintain, manage, and issue daily border metric reports
  • Identify and resolve continuous improvement opportunities through solution development and implementation

 

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • University degree and/or equivalent experience in a transportation environment
  • 2 years of relevant railway, regulatory, or cross border transportation experience
  • Strong analytical, interpersonal, and communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously, innovate, solve problems, and manage conflict to successful resolution
  • In addition to English, proficiency in Spanish (fluently speak, read, and write) will be given preference
  • Demonstrated proficiency with MS Office productivity software (mainly Excel and Outlook)

Management Conductor Program

Becoming a qualified conductor or locomotive engineer is the single best way for a management employee to learn the business at CPKC. You may be required to obtain a certification or to maintain your current certification/qualification as a conductor or locomotive engineer.
