The Production Manager, Maintenance is directly responsible for the day-to day equipment operation of the Weston Production Facility, including fixed plant and mobile assets. The selected candidate will ensure activities are performed safely and in strict compliance with regulatory and maintenance standards consistent with expectations of the business. 


The ideal candidate will have an understanding of mechanical, electrical and technical work, have excellent leadership and supervisory skills. Direct and oversee all daily maintenance activities including delegation of tasks, tracking mechanical performance, and directing the processes of any necessary repairs.



  • Safeguard the application of CP safety practices, policies, procedures and output/results by all direct reports. In addition, take appropriate corrective measures as required;
  • Participate and support the implementation of approved Lean Continuous Improvement recommendations to improve productivity and effectiveness in the Weston Shop Operation;
  • Oversee, manage and direct all maintenance procedures and operations;
  • Ensure all machinery is up to working standards;
  • Assess current maintenance work processes, to optimize efficiency;
  • Use data analysis to help prepare for and prevent future problems;
  • Create and implement measures to minimize breakdowns and repairs (preventative maintenance, quality checks of machinery repairs, tools, equipment etc.)
  • Troubleshoot problem areas and create a clear plan of action for fixing necessary parts;
  • Support selection and implementation of new equipment;
  • Train employees in maintenance work processes and procedures;
  • Create a work environment with safety as a high priority;
  • Perform evaluations of employees to ensure quality of work;
  • Record and track daily progress/error reports;
  • Maintain supplier relationships and order new materials as needed;
  • Create and adhere to maintenance budgets.



  • High School graduate (minimum formal education level); college / university education preferred;
  • Experience in budget analysis techniques;
  • Journeyman Red seal preferred (dual ticket an asset);
  • 10+ years relevant experience in maintenance, railway experience an asset;
  • Extensive knowledge in a variety of control and PLC systems, Mechanical and Electrical systems, HVAC experience an asset;
  • Experience managing multiple suppliers;
  • Can effectively and efficiently handle both administrative and mechanical responsibilities;
  • Strong computer skills (Microsoft Suite) and a solid understanding of SAP preferred;
  • Strong problem solving/resolution skills;
  • Capable of evaluating risks;
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills;
  • Situational leadership – Ability to engage and direct others and manage in a unionized environment;
  • Ability to implement change and best practices successfully.
