PURPOSE OF POSTION:

As the Maintenance Supervisor, you will assist the Management Team with leadership, planning, scheduling and assignment of workforce to specific jobs within the shop environment, ensuring that all production and/or servicing are performed in a safe and efficient manner.

 

POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Conduct job briefings, end of shift briefings, safety meetings and activities by communicating pinpointed expectations, ensuring safety rules, procedures and policies are adhered to through proficiency testing and safety tracking entries.
  • Correct and document safety incidents, safety hazards/concerns, investigates for corrective actions involving the Maintenance Manager & health and Safety Committee in the prescribed time lines.
  • Provide pinpointed positive and constructive feedback on the job and safety performance to all employees and has intestinal fortitude to apply balanced consequences when appropriate.
  • Ensure that there is the appropriate level of stock/parts/materials and is responsible for ordering within prescribed limits through SAP.
  • Supports all expenditure initiatives for balancing budget.
  • Maintain communication and foster positive working relationships with local union officials. Ensures collective agreement is understood and managed as written.
  • Support and participate in continuous improvement initiatives to improve productivity, and efficiencies of the operation. Supports lean Philosophy and Principals.
  • Support mechanical and electrical forces at all incidents within their jurisdiction adhering to the guidelines of the Emergency Response Plan.

 

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must possess a minimum of a mechanical / electrical trade course certification, Red Seal preferred
  • Maintenance/Mechanical aptitude: Millwright, Industrial Electrician, or Electrical/Electronic Tech with PLC background.
  • Experience with PLC’s Allen Bradley (Micrologix, SLC 500, PLC 2), Siemens (SIMATIC S7 1500 series), ABB Robotics (electro/mechanical arm) an asset
  • Experience with Speed Drives (VFD), AB-Flex Drives, ABB’s, Omron-Altivar, Siemens an asset
  • Proficient knowledge in fixed plant maintenance, preventative maintenance programs, turning and milling equipment operations, CNC production machinery, automated plant equipment, strong trouble shooting skills (i.e. automation algorithms), and quality monitoring systems.
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • SAP knowledge an asset
  • MS Office-word, excel, outlook, power point.
  • Knowledge of collective agreement/non-union policies;
