PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:

As the Project Manager Facilities, you will lead all aspects of the Project Management services to the various entities and subsidiaries for CPKC in an assigned region, for all leased and owned sites. The successful candidate will develop and deliver the overall design of the project and to supervise and update budgets and schedules throughout the course of a project to ensure that it is completed on time and within budgets established and approved.

 

POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Coordinate contracts, including safety orientation, field inspection, supervision of contract work, and ensure CPKC safety requirements are adhered to on all facilities construction/maintenance and yard infrastructure projects within the assigned region
  • Prepare and review project cost estimates for appropriation of funds relating to facilities, including preparation of budget requirements for multi-year planning
  • Design, lead, and oversee utility infrastructure and facilities construction projects, from conception to delivery, ensuring completion within schedule and budget while maintaining business continuity
  • Manage feasibility, execution, and maintenance of gas, water, and sanitary management projects, addressing related environmental issues according to company policies and local codes
  • Negotiate and coordinate work activities with internal and external departments and customers to ensure safe, cost-effective project execution and programmed maintenance
  • Schedule and manage tasks, subcontractors, tools, equipment, and material deliveries, reviewing work progress daily and ensuring proper cost and site personnel conduct management
  • Review contractor and project performance to verify adherence to quality, cost, and schedule objectives, while conducting daily inspections of work progress
  • Lead the preparation of multi-year budget plans, supervise project execution, and ensure compliance with environmental, safety, and operational standards

 

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Degree in Architecture, Engineering or Facilities related designation or equivalent experience. Preference will be given to mechanical or civil engineers with experience in railway facility management or commercial construction
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) designation would be considered an asset
  • 5 + years managing various construction teams, project management processes, and financial management, along with relevant knowledge of building codes, contract law, and legislation related to project work
  • Experience leading or considerably contributing to the preparation of RFP’s, tenders and tender awards
  • Strong digital literacy (Microsoft Office, Project, Excel, SAP, Revit and AutoCAD)
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Valid passport with ability to travel to U.S. without restrictions

Management Conductor Program

Becoming a qualified conductor or locomotive engineer is the single best way for a management employee to learn the business at CPKC. You may be required to obtain a certification or to maintain your current certification/qualification as a conductor or locomotive engineer.
