 To provide supervision and oversight of daily operation of the Transcona Rail Welding and Reclamation Plant.  



  • Supervise and assist with the management of the daily operation of Transcona Rail Welding and Reclamation  Plant. 
  • Ensure work is executed and completed per plan. 
  • Supervise unionized rail plant employees as directed by the Manager Rail Welding Plant.
  • Participate in production planning and scheduling of Continuously Welded Rail (CWR) plan.
  • Implement continuous improvement opportunities as required.
  • Ensure work is completed per current standard practices and specifications.
  • Monitors production of rail plant and analyzes results, ensuring compliance to targeted productive rates.
  • Work with Manager Rail Welding Plant to ensure facility is operated within budgetary guidelines.
  • Ensure required inspections for vehicles, equipment and the facility are being properly and consistently performed by the employees responsible.
  • Ensures the application of CP policies, safety practices, and procedures.
  • Participate in the investigation of failures of CP policies, safety practices and procedures.
  • Supervise staff consistent with the collective agreement.
  • May be required to work morning or afternoon shift at certain times of year. 



  • Grade 12.
  • 4 to 5 years supervisory and/or field leadership experience.
  • Ability to effectively manage staff and Proficient in carrying out investigations.
  • Ability to process information from various sources.
  • Rules qualified.
  • Strong computer skills: Outlook, Word and Excel.
  • Strong organizational and leadership skills.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Able to drill down, understand root cause and resolve complex issues.

Management Conductor Program:
