Reporting to the Director Damage Prevention and Claim Service (DPCS), the Analyst DPCS will be a key member of our team to provide statistical analysis and metrics to support planning, developing and monitoring of DPCS activities and mitigating liability exposure. The individual will support financial reconciliation and compliance for all departmental payables (claims) and receivables (salvage, third party). They will develop and support the maintenance and improvement of tools, reports, databases, systems that will provide accurate data for decision makers. The individual will gather, understand, and document business processes and develop requirements for continuous improvement.



  • Support process gathering, understanding and design to deliver improvements to departmental operations that achieve improvements in liability, quality and exception management;
  • Perform data analysis to understand how data impacts solutions and performance;
  • Support DPFC S4 and legacy DPFC system requirements as subject matter expert, acting as a liaison with CP’s Finance and IT teams;
  • Prepare corporate and regulatory (Canadian Transportation Agency-CTA, US Surface Transportation Board (US) reporting;
  • Prepare daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual reports, including customer specific performance reports;
  • Conduct monthly budget and financial reconciliation;
  • Create and maintain ad-hoc reports, tools and databases as required to support prevention or liability programs;
  • Perform audits of completed freight claim files for understanding and compliance to departmental standards
  • Provide investigative support on matters impacting commodity and product liability to CP;
  • Other duties as assigned.



  • University degree in Finance, Commerce, Economics, Accounting, Information Systems or other related fields required;
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in database development, SAP system integration and data analysis required;
  • Excellent analytical, financial modelling and problem solving skills with high attention to detail;
  • Strong organizational, time management, communication and presentation skills;
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment;
  • Experience in data analysis and the use of Sql, Microsoft Access is an asset
  • Expert in Microsoft Excel;
  • Proficient in SAP ECC or S4 financial modules; and
  • Experience with Business Intelligence and SAP Hanna Report is an asset.
