Supervisor Intermodal and Automotive Operations

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:

As the Supervisor Operations you will plan, coordinate direct and control all outside operations within the Intermodal & Automotive terminal ensuring containers and vehicles are received, loaded and/or unloaded in accordance with the policies, guidelines and established plans and priorities while meeting on-time performance and minimizing cost.

 

POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Ensure the application of CPKC safety practices, policies and procedures by unionized and/or contractor employees including conducting efficiency tests
  • Communicate and interact regularly with cross-functional teams to maintain service commitments
  • Coordinate resources within the yard to deliver to key performance indicators
  • Ensure railcar availability/placement in accordance with Service Standards
  • Ensure truck dwell, asset utilization and other key metrics are met including inventory management for containers, railcars and vehicles
  • Support and participate in continuous improvement initiatives to increase productivity and effectiveness of the operation
  • Work directly with employees and/or contractors to provide guidance and support to bring about the vision of an empowered and engaged workforce

 

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • High School Diploma
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Previous railroad experience asset
  • Ability to drill down, understand root cause and resolve complex issues
  • High proficiency MS Office Outlook, Word, and Excel
  • Understanding of applicable Collective Agreement
  • High level communication skills
  • Ability to embrace constructive criticism
  • Willing to be available as required on a 7x24 basis

PRE-EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS:

 

Medical and Drug Testing

This is a safety sensitive position and a successful pre-employment medical assessment including physical, vision, hearing, and a negative company or regulated drug test is required. Post hire qualification drug testing may also be required.

Management Conductor Program

Becoming a qualified conductor or locomotive engineer is the single best way for a management employee to learn the business at CPKC. You may be required to obtain a certification or to maintain your current certification/qualification as a conductor or locomotive engineer.
