PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:

The Hospitality Attendant is the primary point of contact for all areas of CPKC corporate hospitality, from executive functions to corporate catering and interactions with guests on the Royal Canadian Pacific and Kansas City Southern business cars or at facilitated events such as the LPGA, CPKC Holiday Train, etc. The position is multi-functional across a broad spectrum of service responsibilities, including but not limited to preparation of materials, housekeeping, fine dining, bartending, food and beverage service, with a goal to exceed guest expectations with every interaction. The primary work location for this position will be at CPKC headquarters in Calgary, Alberta.

 

POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Build memorable service experiences for all CPKC guests and customers, going above and beyond at every encounter
  • Support a safe working environment by working in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) and federal health regulations
  • Housekeeping tasks include cleaning all serviceable areas and common areas including cleaning, laundry, minor repairs and restocking supplies 
  • Respond to the multiple demands and needs of all guests resulting in exceptional service including coffee, food and wine services, fine dining,  event support, catering, bartending, and on-board train services including but not limited to dishwashing, luggage handling, loading and unloading train cars, etc.
  • Maintain a confidential record of CPKC executive and their guests' special requirements and preferences and ensure that these are accurately accommodated in all activities. Engage that knowledge to facilitate an outstanding experience
  • Work with the culinary and purchasing departments to ensure accurate inventory requirements for events
  • Provide administrative support for reservations of events, event planning and inventory logs

 

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • High school diploma- a certificate in hospitality or equivalent experience in hospitality would be an asset
  • 3+ years' hospitality experience including outstanding front of house customer service
  • Valid passport with ability to travel to U.S./Canada without restrictions, role requires 20%-30% travel for train excursions or event requirements
  • Able to perform all housekeeping duties including standing for long periods, walking on a moving train, carrying trays, kneeling, lifting, pulling, pushing, etc
  • Must be able to work shift work including weekends and holidays
  • ProServe and Food Safety certification or equivalent program is required prior to employment start date
  • valid class 5 Driver’s license, prior to employment start date
  • Standard first aid, Level C Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) is required prior to employment start date

Management Conductor Program

Becoming a qualified conductor or locomotive engineer is the single best way for a management employee to learn the business at CPKC. You may be required to obtain a certification or to maintain your current certification/qualification as a conductor or locomotive engineer.
