Senior Specialist Functional Analyst, SAP Finance (Kansas City Southern Railway Company d/b/a Canadian Pacific Kansas City (CPKC), Kansas City, Missouri)
Design and implement system upgrades, configuration enhancements, and process improvements while considering impacts across the broader application and infrastructure ecosystem; develop diagrams and models—such as use cases, activity diagrams, and process flows—to document business and technical processes and demonstrate how proposed optimizations will support organizational objectives; perform advanced data analysis to evaluate how data structures, quality, and flows impact system functionality and proposed solutions; conduct analysis to diagnose, isolate, and resolve software or infrastructure issues within the assigned area of expertise and contribute to the design of appropriate solutions; support the adoption of new technologies, including modernization and transformation of legacy systems, and apply structured techniques to gather and document business and user requirements from stakeholders; prepare and present reports, corrective action plans, and mitigation strategies based on critical path analysis and project assessments; apply critical thinking and analytical methods to evaluate issues and recommend solutions across multiple systems and business processes; provide guidance on troubleshooting complex application incidents or defects and work with technical teams to ensure timely resolution; fulfill application service requests, provide ongoing business application support, research transactional issues, identify root causes, and assist with system upgrades and maintenance activities; coordinate with diverse stakeholder groups to gather business requirements and build consensus across functional areas; review functional specifications and assist with system configuration, offering best-practice recommendations to support efficient solution design; and assist in the development and review of test plans for new and existing solutions related to projects, upgrades, incident resolutions, and application service requests. Salary: $123,000-134,000 per year.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree or U.S. equivalent in Information Systems, Accounting, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field, plus 6 years of professional experience as a Functional Analyst, or any occupation, job title, position involving development, configuration, implementation, maintenance, and support of enterprise software applications or platform solutions.
In lieu of a bachelor's degree, employer will accept 3 years of post-secondary studies in Information Systems, Accounting, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field plus 7 years of professional experience as a Functional Analyst, or any occupation, job title, position involving development, configuration, implementation, maintenance, and support of enterprise software applications or platform solutions.
Must also have experience with the following:
6 years of professional experience developing, configuring, and maintaining platform solutions in environments including ERP application of Finance Solutions including SAP; 6 years of professional experience implementing, supporting, and configuration and technical support for the SAP Finance system and modules including Finance and controlling, Accounts Payable, Asset Accounting, Project Systems, Treasury modules of SAP; 6 years of professional experience with SAP FI configuration and implementation; 6 years of professional experience gathering requirements, analyzing, estimating, prioritizing, designing, building, testing, implementing, and maintaining the required functionality within the ERP Finance application systems including SAP; 5 years of professional experience contributing to the delivery of complex technical solutions that support business requirements; 5 years of professional experience coordinating with cross-functional groups including finance and accounting departments, business users, and end users of the organization to conduct blueprinting, requirement analysis, impact assessment, product demonstration, and training workshops; 5 years of professional experience utilizing operational and technical frameworks including Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL), the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), and project management processes to design, implement, and optimize balanced solutions or improvements through SAP configurations and development activities based on the best business practices in alignment with architectural standards; and 3 years of professional collaborating with teams across locations, including coordination with external vendors, contractors, and internal departments to achieve project goals and work closely with other IS technical,
PMO, architecture, and business teams to ensure the successful completion of projects and operational activities.
