PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:

 

Take the lead in ensuring the safety, reliability, and efficiency of track infrastructure across your assigned territory. Collaborate closely with the Roadmaster to deliver cost-effective engineering solutions and uphold strict regulatory compliance. Your expertise will be instrumental in maintaining a safe, high-performing rail network that supports seamless train operations and keeps our infrastructure dependable.

 

POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Support the Roadmaster in enforcing CPKC safety practices, policies, and procedures among all direct reports
  • Contribute to achieving compliance, service, and financial outcomes
  • Oversee, coordinate, or execute emergency responses to service disruptions within the geographic territory, while maintaining and implementing seasonal plans for winter, spring floods, and fire management
  • Manage employees according to the terms of the collective agreement and resolve disputes or grievances as necessary
  • Gather and document information to aid in establishing annual and multi-year capital planning priorities
  • Oversee quality assurance for Track Programs and Equipment (TP&E) projects

 

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • High school diploma or general equivalency
  • Valid driver’s license
  • 5 years of previous railroad experience leading a crew

PRE-EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS:

Medical and Drug Testing

This is a safety sensitive position and a successful pre-employment medical assessment including physical, vision, hearing, and a negative company or regulated drug test is required. Post hire qualification drug testing may also be required.

Management Conductor Program

Becoming a qualified conductor or locomotive engineer is the single best way for a management employee to learn the business at CPKC. You may be required to obtain a certification or to maintain your current certification/qualification as a conductor or locomotive engineer.
