PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:

Join CPKC and help strengthen the connections that make a difference in the communities where we operate. Reporting to the Manager, Community Investment, this role supports the planning and delivery of community engagement programs, charitable partnerships, sponsorships, and Community Investment initiatives across North America. Working closely with internal and external stakeholders, you will help maximize CPKC’s community impact by administering investment programs, supporting grant activities, coordinating corporate hospitality assets, and delivering meaningful insights that enhance the company’s reputation and social responsibility objectives.

POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:

• Support budgeting, forecasting, accrual, and amortization activities for Community Investment programs while collaborating with internal stakeholders to prepare and monitor annual Sponsorship and Community Investment budgets, ensuring alignment with corporate objectives
• Partner with Marketing & Sales, Human Resources, Government Affairs, Indigenous Relations, and other business groups to manage donations, sponsorships, and community investment initiatives by providing strategic guidance, industry best practices, and contract support
• Administer cash and in-kind donations through Benevity and internal payment systems, ensuring compliance with budget requirements, contract obligations, accounting procedures, security standards, and grant administration processes
• Manage relationships with external organizations by coordinating sponsorship and donation applications, overseeing deliverables, maximizing stakeholder engagement and return on investment, and responding to public inquiries regarding community investment programs
• Prepare reports, presentations, social impact metrics, ESG reporting, strategic planning materials, and communication content while partnering with the Communications team to showcase investments and share compelling community impact stories
• Coordinate corporate hospitality assets, including suites and season tickets, manage ticket distribution, event requirements, usage reporting and invoices, and support Holiday Train initiatives through vendor setup, invoice processing, grant administration, donation processing, payment reconciliation, and other duties that support the Community Investment team

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

• Post-secondary degree, diploma, or certification in Community Investment, Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), Public Relations, Communications, Business, or a related field combined with five years of relevant experience
• Strong financial acumen with experience in budgeting, forecasting, accruals, amortization, financial analysis, and budget management
• Experience working with SAP, Benevity, or similar financial, grants management, and community investment platforms
• Exceptional organizational, planning, and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities, competing deadlines, and complex projects in a fast-paced environment
• Proven ability to build and maintain strong stakeholder relationships, supported by excellent communication, interpersonal, negotiation, problem-solving, and collaboration skills
• Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Teams, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, with the flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends, a valid driver's license, and a valid passport with the ability to travel within Canada and the United States without restrictions

Management Conductor Program

Becoming a qualified conductor or locomotive engineer is the single best way for a management employee to learn the business at CPKC. You may be required to obtain a certification or to maintain your current certification/qualification as a conductor or locomotive engineer.
